Local government is a valuable partner in the innovation economy, and we continue to support programs, events, and opportunities to grow technology and innovation startups, jobs, and private investment. In Hillsborough County, we achieve this by strengthening the services and resources that directly support our entrepreneurs.
To meet the needs of companies, we utilize assets and resources available through partnerships, collaborating with private, public, and non-profit sectors to serve our business community and county citizens.
Through the Hillsborough County Economic Development Innovation Initiative (EDi2), we partner with organizations to enable entrepreneurs to achieve success. We provide resources for high-quality mentors and support structures, access to capital, collaboration among entities, commercialization of research, and advocacy that directly supports our entrepreneurs. We have invested in our community by supporting the tech and innovation industry through our EDi2 program, providing funding and resources to grow our tech and innovation startups, jobs, and private investment.
What is one “must do” (or must not do!) piece of advice you have for founders growing a startup?
A must-do for founders growing a startup is to connect with as many organizations and resources as possible to help open even more doors for their company. What excites you most about Florida’s future as a place to invest and/or grow a startup?
We have been hard at work in our community, building, facilitating, and collaborating with partners to create a successful innovation community that supports tech companies, aligns resources in our county, and provides opportunities for tech talent, workforce, businesses, and entrepreneurs. It is exciting to see the momentum and investment paying off for our community and citizens.
